Public invited to Town Hall meeting on May 2 at 6 p.m.

Blaine, Minn. (April 18, 2016) – The National Sports Center (NSC) is inviting the public to attend a public Town Hall meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, in the Grand Hall inside the Welcome Center on the NSC campus – 1750 105th Ave NE, Blaine, MN 55449.

The Town Hall meeting is part of a master planning process the NSC is currently undertaking. The NSC has hired LHB, Inc. a multi-disciplinary engineering, architecture, and planning firm to lead staff and outside stakeholders to identify future needs, challenges, and opportunities presented on the NSC’s 600-acre, 26 year-old campus.

Some of the issues the process will address include land use issues, potential future expansion, improvement of already-built areas, connecting campus units, meeting community needs, and improving signage, pedestrian safety, and vehicle access and flow. Also on the agenda is the larger topic of preparing the NSC’s facilities and programs to effectively meet the changing demographic needs of future population and sports consumers.

At the Town Hall meeting, participants will work hands-on in small groups following an orientation presentation and wrapping up with a discussion of next steps.

“This Town Hall is an ideal opportunity for community members and NSC customers to contribute their ideas and suggestions,” said Scott Roth, the NSC’s Director of Golf, who is serving as the interface between the NSC staff and LHB, Inc. “We’re encouraging local neighbors, businesses, political leaders, our existing sports customers, partners, and anyone interested in the future of the NSC to come and contribute.”

The NSC has established a master planning website to keep the public informed on the planning process. Members of the public are invited to log onto the website to fill out a survey and sign up to receive newsletters.
